Much More Saved in His Life, P.W. |
|
I am a middle-aged man with a wife of nearly fifteen years and two boys. I am a field engineer for a major corporation, servicing copy machines. I was brought up in a religious atmosphere, but I had very little knowledge of the pure word of God. At the age of nineteen I was led to the Lord and His salvation. The night that I met the Lord Jesus I knew that I had met the Lord. For the first time in my life, I came to the realization that God loved me!!! I experienced something that I had never known before nor could ever deny. My life genuinely changed and I began to meet with a group of young people and to study the Bible. A young brother was invited to come and share some of his experience with us. It was marvelous. He began to speak things that were very new to me but in his sharing I knew that this man had something more than I did. He was speaking from Genesis chapters one and two concerning the tree of life and the river of life and relating this to Christ. Prior to that evening this was merely a story to me. He invited us to a meeting in San Jose, CA. Several of us went to the meeting, some brothers were sharing and it was good but because I was so young in the Lord I didn't really receive very much. Then after the meeting we were invited to a house for some dessert; that is where I received something that I can never deny! We were sitting around a table eating some ice cream and having fellowship. Some were sharing with us from Romans 10:13 concerning calling upon the name of the Lord. We were encouraged to open up and call out to the Lord using His name. That night I got saved--mind you, I had already received the Lord Jesus and initial salvation, but that night I realized that salvation is a daily matter. While we were driving home we were calling upon His name, singing, shouting, and praising the Lord. We were like those in Acts 2:15 where some suspected that the disciples were drunk and Peter said, These men are not drunk as you suppose, for it is the third hour of the day (or nine A.M.) Prior to attending that meeting I had genuinely sensed the Lord's presence but it was always by accident. That night I realized that I could touch Him and experience Him simply by calling upon His name. Initial salvation is the first step, but I need to experience that salvation on a daily basis. According to Romans 5:10 I was reconciled through His death but there is much more--I am being saved in His life. Shortly after that night I began meeting with the local church on a regular basis. I must say that after a number of years I am still enjoying the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. By God's grace and mercy I am still being saved day by day. |
